Hiervandaan/From here on/Ndisuka is the sixth Stellenbosch public art exhibition, taking place throughout the town centre as a public art intervention which explores the past, present and future though artworks, performances, and installations. Curated by the Visual Arts Department of the University of Stellenbosch, these interventions will take place throughout the town from June 2016 to May 2017. The exhibition is designed to stimulate conversation and question how we see the world. This site has been selected as part of Hiervandaan – look out for more throughout the town! Each site has been chosen as a catalyst for creativity and interaction, and a platform for installations which will take place at various times throughout the year. Hiervandaan is ’n openbare kunsingryping wat die verlede, hede en toekoms verken deur middel van kunswerke, vertoonkuns en installasies. Die doel daarvan is om gesprek te stimuleer en ons siening van die wêreld te bevraagteken. Die inisiatief is byeengebring deur die Visuele Kuns Departement van die Universiteit van Stellenbosch, en vind regdeur die dorp plaas vanaf Julie 2016 tot Mei 2017. Hierdie terrein is gekies as deel van Hiervandaan – wees op die uitkyk vir meer daarvan regdeur die dorp! Elke terrein is gekies om kreatiwiteit en interaksie te ontlok, en as platform te dien vir installasies wat op verskillende tye van die jaar sal plaasvind. About the curator

Vulindlela Philani Elliott Nyoni

Nyoni was born in Zimbabwe in 1976 and attained a Bachelor of Arts in the Fine Arts from the then University of Natal in 1998 and a Masters in Fine Arts from the now University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2006. He is currently a lecturer at the Department of Visual Art at the University of Stellenbosch, after lecturing at and eventually heading up the Art Department at UKZN. He has served as a national and regional selector for the Sanlam Portrait Award, Absa Atelier and Sasol New Signatures competition, and has shown widely on a national level. Nyoni continues to expand his international profile as artist, educator and curator.
