Ruann Coleman was born in 1988 in Johannesburg, South Africa where he currently lives and works. He obtained his Masters of Fine Arts in 2014 from the University of Stellenbosch, after completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2012. Coleman presented his first solo exhibition Balancing Act at SMAC Gallery Stellenbosch in 2014. His second solo exhibition, Found: Rome, was presented in 2015 at the Luigi Di Sarro Foundation for Contemporary Artistic Research, Rome, Italy, following the completion of foundation’s residency. South African group exhibitions include; Pooling Our Secrets at SMAC Gallery in Stellenbosch (2015); Nirox Sculpture Fair (2014) at the Nirox Sculpture Park in Johannesburg; OUT OF CONTEXT (2015) at the University of Johannesburg Art Gallery in Johannesburg and Back to the Future II – Abstract Art in South Africa: Past & Present, SMAC Gallery in Stellenbosch (2015). In May 2016, Ruann Coleman’s work was included in The Spaces Between Maps, an ABSA curated group exhibition at the KKNK Festival in Oudtshoorn and ABSAGallery in Johannesburg. Coleman’s works are included in the Spier Art Collection, South Africa ; the MAAM Art Museum’s Collection in Rome, Italy and the Centro Luigi di Sarro’s Collection in Rome, Italy.
