Belgian-born painter and sculptor Herman van Nazareth is not particularly concerned with what is considered beautiful or aesthetically pleasing, but rather with challenging our evolving perceptions of modern art. This energised athletic bronze figure, whose Flemish/Afrikaans title translates as “exuberance”, seems to rise and twist triumphantly out of the very earth from which it has been created.
