Having participated in various land art and site-specific events in SA and worked alongside international and great local artists in this field, I have assimilated various approaches to land art. I have looked widely at approaches to sites and considered the space allocated to me. The site has very little natural resources that I can rely on, so it is incumbent on me to find materials that will be minimally impactful on the site and allow for the site to be restored as speedily as possible to its original state.

I have looked at artists like Strijdom Van Der Merwe, Jon Foreman, Andres Amador, Julian Richardson and James Brunt to inspire approaches, sites and materials. I have looked to quote these artists, not merely replicate or copy their ideas. I have developed an idea that takes a geometric form based on circles (referring to the poem/ lyrics below) and combines this with a walking path that takes the participant to the center of the design. At this point, green grass invites the participant to lay down and assume the position of the center of the mandala/labyrinth, thus completing it and making a photo opportunity.

This work relates to my exploration of Sacred Geometry in my own practice and extends it into a greater pattern of existence – one that connects us all, that is activated or actualised by viewer interaction and participation through social media.
