Artist’s statement
This work is a playful interpretation of four cubes balancing on top of each other. Although it is two-dimensional, if you view it from the right angle it creates a three- dimensional feel that shows the depth of each cube. As a silhouette it invites the viewer to adjust between a flat surface and a three-dimensional image that is created in your mind. This is due to the brain’s ability to fill in missing or complete ambiguous information, thus creating an optical illusion of stacked cubes.
