Rina Stutzer is a full-time practicing artist investigating the didactive qualities of nature and is currently developing a body of work for a solo exhibition at Everard Read Gallery. In 2021 she Initiated Curious Little Press (CLP) print studio, where working adjacent a fundi printer, offers artists the opportunity to explore and develop techniques across a variety of fine-art printmaking mediums. Furthermore, she is completing her formal field guide training at FGASA (Field Guide Association South Africa) and stands as creative advisor to the artistic collective at Dionysus Sculpture Works (DSW) in Pretoria, where she holds a studio. By contemplating the attainability of nature, her professional endeavors are informed by comprehending the ephemeral aspects of the natural world. This reflective approach guides her work toward gaining a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between humanity and the environment. Stutzer (1976) is a graduate of the University of Pretoria, completing her BAFA in 1999 and her MA(FA) (with distinction) in 2007, whereafter she became a part-time lecturer in the Department of Visual Art. During her art practice she have been commended with several honors including the SASOL New Signatures Art Competition: People’s Choice Award (1999) and the Ekurhuleni Fine Arts Award Competition (2007). She was also awarded a bursary in France as prize for theRendezvous: Focus Painting Competition in 2012 and received the overall Best Artistic Design for 3CR12 Stainless Steel construction from SASDA (2014). In addition to receiving several bursaries and invited to various residencies, she has participated since 2000 in solo and group exhibitions in South Africa, as well as in Great Britain, France, Australia, India, Italy, Switzerland and in the Netherlands.
