Dark Horse

Dreamscapes
By subverting the traditional heroic horse archetype in art history, the Trojan horse challenges cultural biases and presents a counter-narrative of vulnerability. Its symbolic wings serve as a cautionary tale that echoes the legend of Icarus, conveying a delicate balance and fragility and a hint of the consequences of what we choose between moderation or excess. Through playful irony, the work explores heroism and sabotage, reflecting the seesaw shifts and turns between hope and despair that define the South African experience and beyond.
