George has crafted objects of beauty all his life, firstly as a carpenter/joiner. His holistic approach to sculpture today has been influenced by 40yrs in careers as diverse as yacht construction, conventional and earth building, development agriculture, teaching and wilderness leadership/nature conservation. He has used his practical abilities to master wood and stone carving, welding/metalwork, painting and ceramics, with a preference for materials which are recycled, sourced locally and characteristic of the Eastern Cape. His work is in private collections in the USA, New Zealand, UK, Australia, Canada, Kenya and most recently China, as well as South Africa.
