A beginner's mind

My work revolves around points of balance — the balance between the asymmetrical and the symmetrical, between the angular and the organic, between light and shadow. These tensions exist simultaneously, creating a quiet dialogue within the form. Rather than seeking perfection, I am interested in the moment where opposites meet and hold each other in equilibrium.

Light is not separate from the sculpture; it is an essential part of it. As daylight moves across the surface, the work continuously transforms, revealing new contours and shifting perceptions. The sculpture, therefore, exists in an ongoing relationship with its surroundings, never fully fixed, always becoming.

In creating this piece, I worked with a beginner’s mind, allowing the body to guide the process rather than the intellect. My approach is intuitive, responding to what emerges in the moment. The quieter my thoughts become, the clearer the form can appear — as if the sculpture already exists and simply needs to be uncovered.

Through the process, I reconnect with a sense of play and with my inner child. Play becomes a method of discovery: a way of working beyond control, expectation, and certainty. By trusting curiosity and experimentation, the work unfolds organically, shaped as much by spontaneity as by intention.

The sculpture invites a slowed perception, encouraging the viewer to experience balance not as stability, but as a living, changing state.
