Thamsanqa 'Thami' Eddie Kiti

B. 1968

Eddie Tamsanga (Thami) Kitti was born in Machabini, a village near Queenstown in the Eastern Cape. He herded cattle and sheep as a boy. As a teenager he moved to Crossroads in CapeTown to recover from an illness. In the late 80s he worked at the Cape Community Project where he showed potential in woodcarving. He has participated in an exhibition of sculptors at the Iziko National Art Museum. He currently lives in Khayelitsha.


Eddie Tamsanga (Thami) Kitti is in Machabini, ‘n dorpie naby Queenstown in die Oos-Kaap, gebore. As seun was hy ‘n skaap- en beeswagter. Hy het as ‘n tienderjarige na Crossroads in Kaapstad verhuis om van ‘n siekte te herstel. Hy het in die laat 80s by die Community Arts Project in Kaapstad gewerk waar sy talent in houtkerfwerk raakgesien is. Hy het deelgeneem aan ‘n beeldhou uitstalling by die Iziko Nasionale Kunsmuseum. Hy woon tans in Khayelitsha.
